OCR Athlete Group Training Plan

Looking to improve your OCR skills but don’t have the money to commit to 1:1 coaching? Our group plan is an excellent option! We have found that many people want to work on similar goals - building strength, improving their running and increasing grip so we have created a group training plan that will help you with these goals while also using the small group community to help keep you accountable and build your confidence!

Running now for over a year, our athletes have seen some amazing success using our plan. We’ve had so many new PBs set in running, grip gains and strength and last season we had an amazing number of athletes standing on the podium for individual races plus we had FIVE of our amazing athletes placing in the 2022 Spartan Age Group Series! The plan works :D

WHAT IS IT?
A monthly group training plan for anyone looking to build their OCR fitness. From preparing for your first OCR race to gaining the confidence to compete in Age Group racing, this plan is an excellent option for anyone looking to stay focused in their OCR training and access a weekly plan that is tailored to developing confidence and performance in the key areas of OCR.

We have been running this plan with a small group of athletes and it has been hugely successful in terms of building OCR fitness and developing a close-knit community across the world.

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

  • A weekly training plan personalised to the goals of the group. This will focus on the key elements of OCR racing - grip/upper body strength, overall strength development, running endurance & quality OCR sessions. The program will be planned out each week but can easily be modified to suit your lifestyle needs.

  • Private access to our member only website where this plan is hosted. Easily download the app for IOS to easily access your training plan at any time. This plan is only accessible to you and the group members as it is tailored to the group’s goals.

  • A shared group Google Sheet to keep you accountable, let you tick off your workouts and share performances and times each week (if you feel comfortable doing so) for some friendly competition.

  • Our community space will help to keep you motivated, stay on track with your training and compare your performance so you can keep progressing - races or not. It is a safe space for sharing goals, race successes and asking questions about OCR. We will use the group to build the OCR spirit and community of the group and give you some friendly faces to cheer you on across the world. Many of you identified wanting to work on mindset and confidence so this will also provide support and resources on areas such as confidence, progression, recovery etc. This has already become such a positive space and such a supportive OCR community for everyone involved.

  • A set taper plan guide to use when leading up to races.

  • Community, team spirit and celebration of your achievements through the Team Grit social media.

  • Access to an exclusive Whatsapp group for all Team Grit members.

  • Team hangouts, events and the chance to catch up post-race with a pizza and a beer!

FAQs

Do I need access to a gym to sign up?
No, many of our current athletes do not have a gym membership. To get the most from the program we would suggest you have at least some basic weights and a pull-up bar. If you’ve got more - great - but it’s not a necessity.

Can I move the workouts around?
Yes, each week we will give you guidance on the best way to structure your week but we know sometimes life gets in the way so feel free to move the workouts around to suit you. Just try to leave a rest day before your quality session.

How much does it cost?
We want to make the journey to OCR accessible so we have kept our group plan as low cost as possible. You will get all of the above for just £25 a month and the plan can be cancelled at any time with no long term commitments because we know situations can change!

Do I need to be a top-level athlete to begin?
Not at all! We currently have athletes working with us ranging from those preparing for their first open or age group race to those hitting age group podiums who are looking to increase their journey. As long as you have basic fitness (we’d suggest being able to run for an hour is a good base) then there are ways to scale workouts to suit a variety of fitness levels. I’m not based in the UK, is that ok?
Yes, the plan is all accessed through the Team Grit website and your membership will be through Memberspace so you can access it from anywhere in the world and we have athletes working with us globally.

When can I join?
You can now join whenever you are ready. Once we have checked your application we will drop you an email with all the details for your next steps. Your first week will consist of 3 benchmark workouts and then you’ll be able to jump right in with the rest of the gang!
