We are: Team Grit


Team Grit was created in 2019 by Sean Camp and Jessie Montague. Sean is a fully qualified personal trainer and SGX certified obstacle course coach with several age group podiums under his belt. He has a wealth of experience coaching multiple athletes to podiums in age group and elite, while also supporting beginners in their introduction and journey to fitness. Jessie went from her first 5km in 2018 to gaining a place on the Spartan Pro Team for 2020 & 2021 and she has achieved top 3 finishes in 11 elite Spartan races worldwide at distances ranging from 5 - 50 km, as well as a number of other non-obstacle course-related achievements.

Dating since they were 13 years old and married since 2015, Sean and Jessie have shared a long fitness and nutrition journey and have made plenty of mistakes along the way. Inactive as children, they formed unhealthy habits which carried into adult life leading to a sedentary lifestyle and obesity.

Deciding that it was time to change, they embarked on a long journey full of diet and fitness mistakes. From weight ‘cuts’ consisting of only chicken and broccoli, Slimming World dramas, Juice diets and a fear of even stepping into a gym. Through trial, error, and education, they are now in a place where they are able to combine their personal experience and expertise to help others with their own journeys, whatever that starting point may be.

Finding the balance between married life and the coach-client relationship wasn’t always easy, but they believe it has strengthened their relationship. Taking Jessie from not being able to run 1km to Pro Team status allowed Sean to refine his coaching (and patience) skills and enabled them to apply the experiences of coaching and elite performance to build successful training programs and Team Grit now has a host of weekend warriors, age group racers and elite athletes training with them across the world.

Since forming Team Grit, Sean and Jessie have led Spartan mass workouts worldwide (including the first Spartan Vietnam Mass Workout), run in-person and online fitness competitions, coached athletes to podium places in multiple events, created and delivered women’s only workouts focused on building confidence, written and recorded blogs and podcasts to share their knowledge and supported the development and empowerment of the fitness community. They welcome you to join the team at whatever level suits you, be that reading a blog post, taking on a competition or joining our coaching.
