Name: Niro

Age: 31

How did you first get in to OCR?
In 2018, a bunch of friends and I did our first Spartan Sprint in Sentosa without really knowing what it was. It was love at first sight and I’ve been hooked ever since.

What is your favourite race or OCR experience?
The Spartan Beast at Sarawak would be my most memorable experience. It was my first ever race overseas. I loved the brutal terrain and the camaraderie of the Spartan Community.

Favourite obstacle?
Rope climb!

Biggest achievement?
My biggest achievement has got to be finishing my first Spartans Ultra.

OCR must have item?
For me it’s a cheap pair of industrial/gardening gloves with a rubber palm. Ever since falling off the twister at Bukit Timah Super I’ve been carrying a pair for the grip based obstacles and they make a big difference.

Favourite post race snack?
Potato chips!

When is your next race and why did you choose it?
Hopefully the Sprint in Vietnam in February 2020. I am excited as it’s the first time it’s been held there and also it’s a part of the SEA series.

What is your workout mantra / favourite saying when things get tough?
Just keep moving, one foot at a time. Mentally playing the James Brown classic “I feel good” also helps me.
